After the reign of Qutubuddin Aibak which merely was a period of military occupation , and during the twenty-five year rule of Iltumish , the Delhi Sultanate was almost automatically cast into the mould of the Eastern Muslim states of the period , i.e . it became , under the nominal sovereignty of the Khalifa of Baghdad , an independent monarchy professing to be limited by the Shariah -LRB- Divine Law -RRB- . कुतुबुद्दीन ऐबक के शासन काल के बाद , जो केवल सैनिक प्रशासन का समय था और इल्तुमिश के 25 वर्षो के शासन काल में , दिल्ली सल्तनत आप से आप लगभग उस काल के पूर्वी मुसलमान राज़्यों के सांचे में ढल गयी थी ; अर्थात बगदाद के खलीफी की नाममात्र की सत्ता के अधीन वह एक स्वतंत्र राजतंत्र बन गया , यह घोषित करते हुए कि यह शरिया द्वारा नियंत्रित है .
